JJ Lyon
JJ Lyon (MRes) is a composer, sound designer and researcher at Edge Hill University. His interests lie in creating musical compositions that spotlight the sonic characteristics of discrete, designed sounds, opposing conventional musical structures and melodic/harmonic content. His Masters research led to the creation of a double album, Processes, which spotlights this approach to composition.
Jonathan's Master's Research has informed his current interdisciplinary PhD project, which combines this style of composition with narrative theory, aiming to find a new compositional framework within electronic music composition which focuses on linear, narrative experiences as opposed to conventionally loop-based electronic music structures.
Jonathan has collaborated with Dr. Michelle Man on numerous dance projects, notably the score for 'Electri(c)k' at CRECE, at the Teatro Circo de Price, Madrid in 2019. He has also collaborated with Edge Hill University, Wired Aerial Theatre, TATE Liverpool, Jo Reay Reid, and Hannah Finn. He has provided compositional work for numerous student projects.
Abbie Ward
I am a current second year BSc Psychology student at Edge Hill University. My interest in Like Yesterday delves from being a dancer since I was three where I explored many styles, workshops and performances until I landed on my preferred style contemporary. I found the art to be a way to express my interpretations of life and build upon my own learning. This experience provides an insider level of understanding into a dancers intention. While my degree has provided a starting point to which this project allows me to build upon my knowledge of behaviour and experience. My role has me working as an intern on this project.
